Dibenzylidene Sorbitol (DBS) is an alpha-nucleating and clarifying agent for polypropylene that dramatically increases the crystallization rate, leading to a finer spherulite structure and significantly improved optical transparency. It raises the heat deflection temperature by 5–15°C and stiffness without adversely affecting impact strength. Typical loading is 0.1–0.3% in PP films, blow-molded containers, and injection-molded packaging.
