Polyurethane Expansive Grouting Resin
CAS Number: 9009-54-5
Polyurethane (PU) expansive grouting resin is a single or two-component system that reacts with water to generate a rigid or flexible foam, expanding up to 20–30 times its original volume to fill voids and stop water ingress in concrete structures. It is highly effective for stopping active water flows in tunnels, basements, and underground structures. Available in hydrophilic (reacts with water to foam) and hydrophobic (non-foaming, for soil injection) grades.
Technical Specifications
| appearance | Light amber to dark brown liquid |
| free expansion ratio | 10–30x |

Applications
- Active water leak stopping in tunnels and basements
- Void filling and soil consolidation
- Sealing construction joints and cold joints
- Pre-grouting ahead of tunnel boring machine (TBM)
- Ground improvement and underpinning
Key Features
- Expands 10–30x volume to stop even high-pressure water inflows
- Adjustable gel time from 30 seconds to 5 minutes
- Hydrophilic grades react with water, self-sealing in wet conditions
- Flexible grades accommodate joint movement in dynamic structures
