Shrinkage Reducing Admixture (SRA)

CAS Number: 57-55-6

Shrinkage Reducing Admixture (SRA) is a propylene glycol derivative liquid admixture that reduces the surface tension of pore water in hardened concrete, thereby significantly decreasing capillary stress and drying shrinkage. At typical dosages of 1–3% by weight of cement, SRA can reduce drying shrinkage by 25–50% compared to the control mix, mitigating cracking in industrial slabs, bridge decks, and pavements. The product is chloride-free and compatible with PCE superplasticizers and all standard admixture systems.

Applications

  • Industrial and warehouse concrete floors to control plastic and drying shrinkage cracking
  • Bridge decks and parking structure slabs exposed to chloride environments
  • Post-tensioned slabs prone to restraint cracking
  • Concrete pavements requiring tight dimensional tolerance
  • High-performance concrete with low water-cement ratio

Key Features

  • SRA reduces drying shrinkage by 25–50% by lowering pore water surface tension
  • Prevents plastic shrinkage and drying shrinkage cracking in large flat slabs
  • Chloride-free formula compatible with reinforced and post-tensioned concrete
  • Synergistic with PCE superplasticizers for high-performance low-water-cement-ratio mixes
