Tripropylene Glycol Diacrylate (TPGDA)

CAS Number: 42978-66-5

Tripropylene Glycol Diacrylate (TPGDA) is a low-viscosity difunctional acrylate monomer used as a reactive diluent in UV and electron beam curing formulations. It significantly reduces system viscosity while contributing two crosslinkable double bonds per molecule, resulting in fast cure rates and good flexibility in the cured film. Compared to monofunctional diluents such as IBOA, TPGDA delivers higher crosslink density and lower skin sensitization than short-chain diacrylates like HDDA.

Technical Specifications

  • Reactive diluent in UV coatings and varnishes
  • UV-curable flexographic and offset inks
  • UV adhesives and laminating adhesives
  • Radiation curing of paper coatings
  • Electron beam curable coatings

Key Features

  • TPGDA provides very low viscosity (10–15 mPa·s) for easy formulation without solvents
  • Difunctional crosslinking contributes flexibility and toughness to cured films
  • Lower skin sensitization risk compared to HDDA and TPGDA short-chain analogues
  • Fast photopolymerization rate suitable for high-speed coating and printing lines
