Alkyl Polyglucoside (APG)

CAS Number: 110615-47-9

Alkyl Polyglucoside (APG) is a non-ionic biosurfactant synthesized from fatty alcohol and glucose through Fischer glycosylation, yielding an inherently mild, biodegradable, and multi-EO-free surfactant. APG delivers excellent foaming, emulsification, and skin compatibility across a wide pH range, and is fully compatible with anionic, cationic, and amphoteric surfactants. The two primary commercial grades are APG 0810 (C8/C10 fatty chain, highest foam, lowest viscosity) and APG 1214 (C12/C14 fatty chain, superior detergency and mildness).

Applications

  • Natural and ECO-certified shampoos and body washes
  • Dishwashing liquids and household cleaners
  • Industrial degreasers and hard surface cleaners
  • Agricultural adjuvants and wettable powder formulations
  • Oilfield and enhanced oil recovery (EOR) surfactant systems

Key Features

  • APG biosurfactant is EO-free and palm-oil-free — meets Ecocert, COSMOS, and NATRUE standards
  • Exceptional mildness with Zein number comparable to baby shampoo benchmarks
  • Synergistic foam boosting effect when co-formulated with SLES or CAPB
  • Stable across pH 3–12 — suitable for acidic toilet bowl cleaners and alkaline degreasers alike
