Quaternary Ammonium Biocide for Water Treatment
CAS Number: 68424-85-1
Quaternary ammonium compounds (quats) are cationic surfactant biocides widely used in cooling water and industrial water treatment for bacteria and algae control. They disrupt microbial cell membranes, causing rapid cell death, and also disperse biofilms. Quats have the added benefit of reducing surface tension, aiding in deposit removal and equipment cleaning.
