Caustic Soda 50% for Mercerizing

CAS Number: 1310-73-2

Caustic Soda (NaOH) 50% liquid solution for textile mercerizing applications. Mercerizing cotton fabric with concentrated NaOH (200–280 g/L) under tension permanently swells cellulose fibers, increasing luster, dye uptake, dimensional stability, and tensile strength. The 50% liquid grade is convenient for continuous mercerizing ranges with automatic dilution systems.

Applications

  • Cold (20°C) and hot (60°C) mercerizing of cotton woven fabric
  • Chain mercerizing of cotton yarn for dye uptake improvement
  • Alkali treatment for bamboo viscose fabric pre-treatment
  • Scouring bath alkali source for cotton pre-treatment
  • Preparation of high-concentration NaOH dye fixation bath

Key Features

  • High purity with low iron content to prevent fiber yellowing
  • Liquid form enables precise metering in continuous mercerizing ranges
  • Recoverable — spent alkali can be reconcentrated for reuse
  • Improves subsequent reactive dye uptake by 10–20% on mercerized cotton
