Waterborne Shellac Solution is a natural lac resin (shellac) solubilized in an aqueous ammoniated or DEA (diethanolamine) base, producing a clear to amber solution suitable for food-contact and industrial applications. FDA 21 CFR-approved for direct food contact, it is used as a fruit and vegetable wax coating, confectionery glazing agent, and pharmaceutical tablet coating. Industrially, waterborne shellac functions as a fast-drying stain-blocking primer for wood surfaces, offering excellent adhesion to problem substrates including knots, tannin-bleeding wood, and smoke-stained surfaces.
