Fumaric Acid Feed Grade Acidifier
CAS Number: 110-17-8
Fumaric Acid is a dicarboxylic organic acid widely used as a feed acidifier in swine and poultry diets, particularly in piglet feeds where it supports gastric acidification to compensate for low HCl production post-weaning. As a solid acid, it is easier to handle than liquid acids and can be incorporated directly into dry premixes and complete feeds. It also participates in the Krebs cycle providing a direct energy-yielding metabolic role.

Applications
- Piglet starter feeds to lower gastric pH and improve protein digestion
- Dry premix formulations where liquid acids are impractical
- Acidifier blends with citric acid for synergistic gastric pH reduction
- Poultry feeds to improve mineral and nutrient absorption
- Aquafeed as a pH modifier for digestive tract health
Key Features
- Solid form is easier and safer to handle versus liquid organic acids
- Participates in Krebs cycle providing minor metabolic energy benefit
- Effective at lowering gastric pH to activate pepsinogen in piglets
- Good mixing homogeneity in dry feed due to similar particle size to premix carriers
