Polyanionic Cellulose PAC-L is a low-viscosity grade carboxymethyl cellulose derivative specifically engineered for filtration control (fluid loss reduction) in water-based drilling fluids, compliant with API Spec 13A. At dose rates of 0.5–3 kg/m³, it forms a thin, low-permeability filter cake on the borehole wall that controls HPHT fluid loss to <20 mL at 150°C/500 psi. Its ionic character and thermal stability make it effective in freshwater, seawater, and saturated-salt muds.
