Zinc Salt Corrosion Inhibitor

CAS Number: 7446-20-0

Zinc sulfate and zinc chloride are cathodic-type corrosion inhibitors widely used in cooling water programs to protect carbon steel and other metals. Zinc ions precipitate as zinc hydroxide at cathodic sites on metal surfaces, forming a protective barrier against oxygen corrosion. Zinc salts are highly effective when combined with anodic inhibitors such as phosphonates and azoles.
