DMDM Hydantoin Preservative

DMDM Hydantoin is a formaldehyde-releasing preservative derived from hydantoin, effective against a broad spectrum of bacteria, yeast, and mold in rinse-off and leave-on personal care formulations. It releases formaldehyde slowly to provide sustained antimicrobial protection in high-water-activity products such as shampoos, conditioners, body washes, and liquid soaps. Typical use concentration is 0.1–0.6% (active), and it is listed on the EU Annex V positive list at a maximum 0.6% formaldehyde equivalent.
