Low-VOC Coalescing Agent

CAS Number: 25265-77-4

A low-VOC diester coalescing agent designed to facilitate film formation in waterborne latex coatings at ambient and low temperatures without the environmental and health concerns associated with traditional glycol ether coalescents. It temporarily plasticizes latex polymer particles to promote fusion and coalescence while evaporating cleanly from the dry film, resulting in a hard, durable, and low-emission coating. Compliant with LEED, EPA Method 24, and EU Directive 2004/42/EC VOC limits.

Technical Specifications

pH6.0–8.0

appearanceColorless to pale yellow clear liquid

Applications

  • Waterborne architectural interior and exterior paints
  • Low-emission industrial maintenance coatings
  • Waterborne wood coatings and floor lacquers
  • Primer and undercoat formulations for sensitive environments
  • Eco-label certified decorative coating products

Key Features

  • VOC content <50 g/L, compliant with strictest global regulations
  • Effective minimum film formation temperature (MFFT) reduction of 10–25 °C
  • Clean evaporation leaves no plasticizer residue in the cured film
  • Improves block resistance and hardness development versus conventional coalescents
