Tannic Acid Rust Converter
CAS Number: 1401-55-4
Tannic acid rust converter chemically reacts with iron oxides and rust to form a stable, insoluble iron tannate complex that provides a tight, adherent layer suitable as a base for coating applications. Unlike mechanical rust removal, the rust converter treats the remaining rust in place, converting it into a black protective layer that bonds with the metal substrate. It is widely used for maintenance painting of rusty steel structures, pipelines, and bridges where complete rust removal is impractical.
