Leuco-Indigo (Soluble Indigo / Indigo White)
CAS Number: 482-89-3
Leuco-indigo, also known as indigo white, is the reduced, soluble form of indigo obtained by treating indigo with a reducing agent such as sodium hydrosulfite in an alkaline vat. It is the actual dyeing species in traditional and modern indigo vat dyeing of denim, knit fabrics, and yarn, oxidizing back to insoluble blue indigo within the fiber upon air exposure. Chemzip supplies stabilized leuco-indigo preparations for continuous denim dyeing operations.
