Optical Brightening Agent (OBA)

CAS Number: 4404-43-7

Optical brightening agents (OBAs) are fluorescent dyes that absorb ultraviolet light and re-emit it as visible blue light, compensating for the yellowish tint of plastics and making them appear whiter and brighter. They are widely used in polyolefins, PVC, ABS, and engineering plastics. OBAs for plastics must be thermally stable at processing temperatures typically above 200°C.
