Sodium Molybdate Corrosion Inhibitor Synergist
CAS Number: 7631-95-0
Sodium molybdate dihydrate is an anodic corrosion inhibitor and synergist used in cooling water systems, oilfield water injection, and heat transfer fluid formulations. The molybdate anion forms a stable passivation layer on ferrous metal surfaces by oxidizing the surface to form Fe₂O₃·MoO₃, significantly reducing anodic corrosion rates. It is frequently used in combination with azoles, phosphates, and zinc salts, achieving synergistic corrosion protection at total dosages of 50–200 ppm.
