Texanol Coalescent Agent (2,2,4-Trimethyl-1,3-pentanediol monoisobutyrate)

CAS Number: 25265-77-4

Texanol (2,2,4-trimethyl-1,3-pentanediol monoisobutyrate) is the industry-standard coalescent agent for latex paints, lowering the minimum film-forming temperature (MFFT) of acrylic, vinyl-acrylic, and styrene-acrylic binders. It temporarily plasticizes latex particles to ensure continuous film formation under cold application conditions and then evaporates from the dried film, restoring hardness and block resistance. Texanol is approved for use in paints applied to surfaces in contact with drinking water in many regions.
