Molybdate Passivation Agent

CAS Number: 7631-95-0

Molybdate passivation agent based on sodium molybdate produces a thin, greenish-yellow conversion coating on zinc and zinc alloy electroplated substrates, offering a hexavalent chromium-free alternative with good corrosion protection. Molybdate ions form an insoluble molybdate film on the metal surface that provides anodic inhibition and seals micro-porosity in zinc deposits. The product is valued for its low toxicity, good environmental profile, and compatibility with subsequent lacquer or wax sealants.
