Lithopone (Zinc Sulfide / Barium Sulfate Blend)
CAS Number: 1345-05-7
Lithopone is a co-precipitated white pigment consisting of approximately 30% zinc sulfide (ZnS) and 70% barium sulfate (BaSO4), widely used as an economical white pigment and filler in interior paints, rubber, plastics, and paper coatings. While less opaque than TiO2, its combination of whiteness, low oil absorption, and inertness makes it a cost-effective partial TiO2 replacement and functional filler. Chemzip supplies standard and high-strength lithopone grades.
