Isothiazolinone Biocide for Metalworking Fluids

Isothiazolinone-based biocides are the most widely used antimicrobial additives in water-miscible metalworking fluids, preventing bacterial and fungal contamination that causes fluid degradation, unpleasant odors, and health risks for machine operators. Blends of 5-chloro-2-methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one (CMIT) and 2-methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one (MIT) provide broad-spectrum efficacy against bacteria, yeast, and molds at low concentrations. Proper biocide management extends metalworking fluid service life and reduces disposal costs.
