Lactic Acid (Cosmetic Grade)

CAS Number: 50-21-5

Lactic acid is an alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) naturally found in milk, known for its dual action as a chemical exfoliant that loosens desmosomal bonds between corneocytes and as a natural moisturizing factor (NMF) that hydrates the skin by attracting and retaining water. Its larger molecular size compared to glycolic acid makes it gentler and more suitable for regular use on sensitive skin. Used at 2–12% in exfoliating toners, serums, and moisturizers.
