Tris(1,3-dichloro-2-propyl) Phosphate (TDCPP / TDCIPP)
CAS Number: 13674-87-8
Tris(1,3-dichloro-2-propyl) phosphate (TDCPP, also known as TDCIPP) is a highly effective halogen-phosphorus flame retardant and plasticizer for flexible polyurethane foam, achieving excellent FR ratings at moderate loadings through the synergistic action of chlorine and phosphorus. It exhibits lower volatility and migration compared to TCEP, making it more suitable for open-cell foam furniture and mattress applications. Note: TDCPP has been added to California's Proposition 65 list and is under evaluation in multiple jurisdictions; buyers should verify applicable regulations.
Technical Specifications
| appearance | Colorless to pale yellow liquid |
| chlorine content (%) | 48.5–49.5 |
| flash point (COC, °C) | >230 |
| phosphorus content (%) | 7.2–7.5 |
| density (20°C, g/cm³) | 1.50–1.53 |
| viscosity (25°C, mPa·s) | 90–150 |
Applications
- Flexible polyurethane foam for furniture, mattresses, and automotive seating FR
- Semi-rigid polyurethane foam for automotive headrests and armrests
- Rigid polyurethane foam insulation where chlorinated FR is acceptable
- PVC plastisols and coatings requiring liquid halogen-phosphorus flame retardant
- Carpet and textile back-coating applications in permitted jurisdictions
Key Features
- Lower volatility and migration than TCEP provides longer-lasting FR performance in open-cell foam applications
- High chlorine content (49%) with phosphorus synergism delivers maximum halogen-phosphorus FR efficiency
- Good hydrolytic stability at ambient conditions prevents FR degradation in polyurethane foam over service life
- Regulatory caution: Subject to California Prop 65 listing and regional restrictions — confirm local requirements
