N-Acetyl Glucosamine (NAG) is an aminosaccharide that serves as a precursor to hyaluronic acid biosynthesis in the skin and also inhibits tyrosinase glycosylation to reduce melanin production. It provides dual benefits of enhanced skin hydration (via HA stimulation) and skin brightening (via melanin inhibition), making it a uniquely multifunctional active. Used at 2–4% in brightening moisturizing formulations, especially effective in combination with niacinamide.
