Astaxanthin
CAS Number: 472-61-7
Astaxanthin is a ketocarotenoid pigment produced primarily by the microalgae Haematococcus pluvialis, widely recognized as the most potent natural antioxidant known, with free radical quenching capacity approximately 6000x stronger than vitamin C and 800x stronger than CoQ10. Its unique molecular structure spanning both sides of the cell membrane provides inside-out antioxidant protection, making it exceptionally effective for anti-aging and photoprotection. Used at 0.01–0.1% in premium anti-aging formulations.
