Ceramide NP (Ceramide 3)
CAS Number: 100403-19-8
Ceramide NP (also known as Ceramide 3) is the most abundant ceramide in human stratum corneum, playing a critical role in maintaining the skin's lamellar lipid barrier that prevents transepidermal water loss (TEWL) and protects against environmental aggressors. Topical application replenishes depleted ceramide levels in dry, atopic, and aging skin. Used at 0.01–1% in barrier repair creams, moisturizers, and sensitive skin formulations.
