Chlorinated Paraffin Extreme Pressure Additive for Metalworking

Chlorinated paraffins (CPs) are among the most effective extreme pressure additives for heavy-duty metalworking operations including deep drawing, tapping, and gear hobbing, where contact pressures exceed the capability of sulfur and phosphorus-based EP additives alone. The chlorine content reacts with iron under tribological stress to form iron chloride low-shear films. Available in short, medium, and long chain lengths with 40–70% chlorine content, they are widely used in neat cutting oils and metalforming lubricants worldwide.

Applications

  • Neat cutting oils for heavy-duty tapping, gear hobbing, and broaching operations
  • Deep drawing and stamping lubricants for automotive sheet metal forming
  • Gear cutting and threading fluids for high-alloy steel machining
  • Cold forming and wire drawing lubricants requiring maximum EP performance
  • Industrial metalworking greases for severe service applications

Key Features

  • Excellent extreme pressure performance for heavy-duty cutting, forming, and stamping operations
  • High chlorine content grades deliver unmatched EP film formation under ultra-high contact pressures
  • Long chain grades (C18-30) offer improved environmental profile versus short-chain variants
  • Synergistic with sulfurized and phosphorus EP additives for balanced heavy-duty cutting fluid formulations
