Sphingomyelin (Cosmetic Grade)

CAS Number: 85187-10-6

Sphingomyelin is a phospholipid naturally present in cell membranes and the skin's lipid barrier, acting as a structural component and precursor to ceramides via enzymatic hydrolysis in the skin. As a cosmetic active, it improves skin moisture retention, enhances lipid barrier integrity, and provides anti-aging benefits by mimicking the skin's natural membrane lipids. Used at 0.1–2% in barrier repair and anti-aging formulations.
