GL-4/GL-5 Gear Oil Additive Package
Complete GL-4/GL-5 gear oil additive packages combine extreme pressure, antiwear, corrosion inhibition, foam suppression, and oxidation protection in a single blendable concentrate. These packages are formulated to meet API GL-4 (manual transmission and transaxle) and GL-5 (hypoid axles) specifications, ensuring passage of the CRC L-33, L-60, L-37, and FZG gear tests. They are designed for efficient blending with Group I, II, and III base oils at treat rates of 4–8% to produce finished automotive gear lubricants.
Technical Specifications

Applications
- Manual transmission lubricants (API GL-4) for passenger cars and light commercial vehicles
- Hypoid rear axle and differential oils (API GL-5) for passenger and commercial vehicles
- Industrial enclosed gear oil formulations (ISO VG 68–680)
- Limited-slip differential (LSD) oils with friction modifier content
- Off-highway and agricultural machinery gear lubricants
Key Features
- All-in-one additive package simplifies blending: one dose-in to produce API GL-4 or GL-5 finished oil
- Balanced EP-AW chemistry passes CRC L-33, L-37, L-60 axle tests and FZG gear scuffing tests
- Formulated with copper corrosion inhibitors for yellow metal compatibility in gearboxes with brass components
- Compatible with Group I, II, III, and Group IV PAO base oils for flexible finished oil viscosity grades
