Leather Retanning Agent
CAS Number: 9003-39-8
Leather retanning agent is a synthetic or vegetable tannin used after primary chrome or vegetable tanning to improve leather properties such as fullness, firmness, grain tightness, and dye uptake uniformity. Syntan (synthetic tannin) and polymeric retanning agents fill loose areas of the hide, resulting in more uniform leather quality. They also provide improved light fastness and reduce chrome content in the final leather product.
