Linear alkylbenzene sulfonic acid (LABSA) is the acidic precursor to LAS and the most important intermediate in detergent manufacturing. It is neutralized with sodium hydroxide or other alkalis to form the corresponding sulfonate salts used in cleaning formulations. LABSA offers excellent emulsification, wetting, and degreasing properties.
