Quaternary Ammonium Compound Water Biocide (BAC)
CAS Number: 8001-54-5
Benzalkonium chloride (BAC) and blended quaternary ammonium compounds (QACs) are non-oxidizing cationic surfactant biocides effective against a wide range of bacteria, algae, and fungi in water treatment systems. They act by disrupting microbial cell membranes and are used as both algaecides and bactericides in cooling towers, potable water, and industrial systems.
