Sodium Bisulfite Oxygen Scavenger

CAS Number: 7631-90-5

Sodium bisulfite (NaHSO3) is a cost-effective chemical oxygen scavenger used in boiler feedwater, hot water systems, and reverse osmosis membrane pre-treatment for dechlorination. It rapidly reacts with dissolved oxygen to prevent corrosion in boiler circuits. In RO applications, it neutralizes residual chlorine to protect thin-film composite membranes from oxidative damage.

Applications

  • Boiler feedwater dissolved oxygen scavenging
  • RO membrane pre-treatment chlorine removal
  • Closed heating circuit oxygen removal
  • Boiler condensate return line protection
  • Photo processing and dye bath reducing agent

Key Features

  • Fast reaction kinetics with dissolved oxygen — effective in seconds
  • Dual function: oxygen scavenger in boilers and dechlorinator in RO pre-treatment
  • Cost-effective versus catalyzed sulfite or organic oxygen scavengers
  • Food grade available for boiler steam used in food processing
